Perform the basic troubleshooting: Your computer might not recognize your hard drive due to a poor USB cable. It is better to connect the same device with a different cable and also try connecting WD My Passport to the different USB ports of your computer.

You can change the drive letter to avoid an error. Here’s how to change the drive letter.

Changing the drive letter:

  • On your Windows computer, click the Start menu.
  • Select the Disk management option.
  • In the Disk Management window, you can right-click your external drive name.
  • Click the Change drive letters and paths option.
  • Click the Change button.
